Broken Sword: The Angel of Death

When the forces of ancient worlds, and past forgotten myths do battle with the power of old friends. When current emotions clash with past regret, and when some guys in York design cunning puzzles, write funny scripts and orchestrate the type of music to make the hair on the back of your next stand on end, it can only mean the forth instalment of Broken Sword has been born. After reluctantly battling dragons, Mayan gods and becoming a Knight of a long lost Holy Order, unwitting hero George Stobbart settles down to a life of mundane 9-5 office work. Who would have thought that a mysterious and beautiful woman would enter his life; a woman whose sudden disappearance draws him into a desperate search for a nefarious artifact of great and terrible power. Emotion, humour, time pressure and puzzling combine for the latest Broken Sword Adventure and unfortunately for George, it looks like the world needs saving one more time. Biblical scholars have long agreed that Moses was more than just a poor shepherd’s boy. It is said that he was a natural scholar and that from an early age he devoted himself to unraveling the mysterious arts of alchemy. Indeed, he read documents that even in those times were already very ancient – the scant remains of older, extinct civilisations. Amongst these documents, it is believed; lay the primitive blueprints for an awesome weapon… Moses was able to construct this weapon. And when the Pharaoh refused passage for the Israelites out of Egypt, he unleashed it upon the Egyptians with terrifying effect. The Pharaoh capitulated. The Exodus began. The weapon was the final and most terrible of the Great Plagues. Uncannily, it seemed to be able to kill selectively, leaving the Israelites unharmed. The Egyptians called it – ‘The Angel of Death’. Just months later, Moses received the Ten Commandments from God. The stones were laid inside the Ark of the Covenant, within the Tabernacle. Later, when the Israelites were defeated in battle, and the Philistines stole the Ark, the Philistines were struck down with a terrible plague. Terrified, they gave the Ark to another tribe – and that tribe was struck down too. Thousands died. Only when the Ark was returned to the Jews did the plagues stop. Hundreds of years later, however, it was lost. And with it, the secrets of Moses’ deadly weapon – a weapon that could destroy to order…. Lost. Or so it was thought
