About This Game
HOUND is an evolution simulation, featuring advanced artificial intelligence that speeds up natural selection and genetic mutation thousands of times, allowing complex ecosystems to emerge in small - scale simulations. In the game players create artificial life, design and manage virtual ecosystems and directly interact with neural networks of high organization. It is a conversation between you and AI - an exchange of emotions and ideas that can turn into either a productive cooperation or a brutal competition.
The concept of artificial life is old, but has been brought to a new level by the project - our creatures exist in three dimensions, develop legs, wings and ways of communicating with each other. Thanks to a powerful built-in AI, you will get all of it in hours instead of millions of years of evolution, and on your PC instead of a massive computer cluster.
HOUND is not a game in a conservative way, but a powerful engine, you can play - a system that can create a new unique world for you to shape and conquer. Once you start the simulation, your every move will change the outcome - every organism, you design and every tweak to the environment will make a difference. It is a game with a goal of creating a perfect and complex ecosystem - life that you want. There is no "progression", and no levels to beat - only a natural task of containing and stabilizing a bursting stream of life.
The gameplay is simple: you start in an empty world, build your ecosystem, design your first organism and throw it into the void. AI analyses your creation, creates an artificial genome of the organism and uses it to produce competitors, stimulate successful mutation - evolution starts at your very eyes as more and more complex life forms emerge to fight for survival. Leave it to grow for too long, and the simulation will go out of control - overpopulation, a supernova explosion or a plague will quickly turn your world into a wasteland unless you fight back and, say, create a new super-virus to beat an already raging one.
The goal is yours to pick - create a brutal world of predators or a beautiful garden, breed an intelligent species, capable of communication or a super-organism that will consume stars instead of other creatures. If you manage to control the program, the result of your actions can be anything, you want it to. Although, our research team encourages you to try and breed the ones, who talk - it can really help us with the scientific portion of the project.
